Skylights on both pitches

Light from two directions all day, and the chimneys for a view.

Set up for working

Proper desk, proper chair, 500 Mbps. Not a laptop on a dining table.

Ninety seconds to the Mile

Close enough to walk back for a nap. Far enough to sleep.

Up four flights of a turnpike stair, which is part of the charm and all of the workout. The reward is a loft with the roof opened up: skylights on both pitches, exposed stone on the gable wall, and a view across the chimneys towards Salisbury Crags.

One bedroom, properly separated from the living space rather than carved out of a corner. The kitchen is small but complete. There is a deep window seat that most guests end up claiming as their favourite spot in the flat.

You are ninety seconds from the Royal Mile and about four minutes from Cockburn Street. During the Festival you will hear the city; the rest of the year the close is genuinely quiet.

Four flights and worth every one. The window seat became my office for a week. Fastest wifi I have had in any rental anywhere.

They tell you it is loud during the Festival and they are right, and I still would not stay anywhere else. Ninety seconds from the Mile.

The bedroom is a real room with a door, not a corner behind a curtain. After three Edinburgh flats that were, this mattered.

Great flat, brilliantly located. The turnpike stair is genuinely steep — fine for us, but think twice with a heavy case or dodgy knees.

Maya

Worked here for two weeks. Proper desk, proper chair, good light from both skylights. Rare to find a rental that takes working seriously.

Compact but nothing missing. Coffee grinder was a nice touch. Check-in instructions were clear and arrived when they said they would.

Where you will be

Edinburgh, Midlothian, United Kingdom

Ninety seconds off the Royal Mile, four minutes from Cockburn Street. The close is genuinely quiet outside August — during the Festival you will hear the city, and we would rather say so than have you discover it. Salisbury Crags are a twenty minute walk if you want the view without the crowds.

Getting around

Waverley is an eight minute walk, mostly downhill on the way there. There is no parking and we would not recommend bringing a car into the Old Town at all. The airport tram stops at St Andrew Square, twelve minutes away.

We give the neighbourhood, not the door number. You will get the exact address once your stay is confirmed.
